ATLANTA — Police have made an arrest after a man was found shot to death in an Atlanta park over the weekend.
Officers were called to inside the Historic Old Fourth Ward Park near Ponce City Market just before 5 a.m. on Saturday.
Alexander Kelly, 26, has now been arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault and gun possession.

Police responded to the park, and found Rickie J. Smith, 42, shot and killed. His name has not been released.
“It appears to be the result of some gun violence inside the park, but we’re still working on the details, working on seeing what kind of video we can gather to try to shed some light on this situation,” Lt. Christapher Butler said.
Police say the two men did not know one another, but have not commented on what led up to the shooting.

“For it to happen right here at this park, where I walk by five times a day and kids and families are playing,” said Chris Skelley, who lives across the street with his wife and 12-week-old daughter. “Every Saturday morning, there’s a birthday party or two at this little park for those young kids. And to know that somebody was killed right there earlier today is just horrible.”
Kelly is being held in the Fulton County Jail.
