ATLANTA — A mother says her daughter needed medical attention after an attack at school.

Students posted video of the attack at the Carver Early College High School on social media.

Atlanta Public Schools confirmed to Channel 2's Nefertiti Jaquez that the incident on Monday involved at least five students.

The mother of one of the girls that attacked, showed Jaquez video of the fight that had been posted on Instagram.

She said a group of girls jumped her daughter and her daughter's friend, sending both to the hospital.

“These babies are at Egleston waiting on a CT scan because they were kicked in their heads,” the mother said, asking not to be identified.

The videos show a fight between at least five students around lunchtime on Monday.

“I have never seen a child beat in the face like that before,” the mother told Jaquez.

She now fears her 16-year-old daughter may face retaliation. She said the daughter called her moments after the fight to tell her what happened.

The mother said she rushed to the school to check on her. Once there, her daughter and her 14-year-old friend were taken to the hospital, bloodied and bruised.

“It was just a chaotic scene. I saw her face and she was just bleeding from the head,” the mother said.

Now, the mother is wondering how this happened if the school has two resource officers who patrol the campus.

Jaquez contacted APS and a representative said the district will work diligently to figure that out.

The district sent a statement saying, in part:

“The Atlanta Public Schools Police Department is investigating this matter and will issue charges if warranted. The safety and security of our students is a top priority at APS.”
