ATLANTA — Video of cars doing donuts on the Peachtree Street Bridge went viral on Instagram over the weekend.
It’s one of several recent street racing incidents police are investigating. Atlanta police and the Georgia State Patrol have pulled over hundreds of cars in the last three days.
Channel 2′s Elizabeth Rawlins was in East Point on Monday, where Georgia State Patrol troopers and Atlanta Police worked together to break up a group of drivers performing stunts in a parking lot.
The Atlanta police aviation unit zeroed in from their chopper as Georgia State Patrol troopers moved in from the ground.

“And the next thing you know, they ran up on the sidewalk and almost hit a beauty shop,” a witness said.
It wasn’t the only incident over the weekend. Stunt drivers took over the Peachtree Street Bridge over Interstate 85 early Sunday morning.
Residents weren’t surprised.

“It’s wild out here,” one resident said. “I’ve seen it coming in from work sometimes. You can’t even get through traffic.”
APD and GSP are actively trying to crack down on illegal street racing, which has only increased during the pandemic.
Over the past six months, multiple agencies have conducted 25 law enforcement waves targeting street racers.
Since April, the Georgia State Patrol has issued more than 10,000 citations.
