Several school districts are changing schedules around because of the approaching winter storm that’s expected to bring up to 4 inches of snow to north Georgia this weekend.

Thursday afternoon, Gov. Nathan Deal issued a State of Emergency to begin at 12 p.m. Friday ahead of the incoming weather. The declaration includes 78 north and central Georgia counties.
Here’s a list of of major school districts closing or dismissing early Friday:
Atlanta Public Schools: Dismissing 2 hours early
Bartow County: Closing 2 hours early
Carrollton City: Elementary and Middle school dismiss at 12:30 p.m. High School and Junior High School dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
Cartersville City: Closing 2 hours early
Cobb County: Dismissing 2 hours early
Coweta County: Closing 2 hours early
Dawson County: Dismissing 2 hours early
Decatur City: Closing 1 hour early
DeKalb County: Dismissing 2 hours early
Douglas County: Dismissing 2 hours early
Fayette County: Closing 2 hours early
Forsyth County: Elementary school dismisses at 11:50 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., high school at 12:55 p.m. and middle school at 1:30 p.m.
Fulton County: Closing at 12 p.m.
Georgia State: Closing at 12 p.m.
Georgia Tech: Closing at 12 p.m.
Gilmer County: Closing at 12 p.m.
Gordon County: Closing 2 hours early
Haralson County: Closed for students. Staff to report at 7:30 a.m.
Heard County: Closing 2 hours early
Jackson County: Closing 1 hour early
Lumpkin County: Closing at 12 p.m.
Marietta City: Dismissing 2 hours early
Paulding County: Early dismissal. Elementary schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. Middle and high schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
Pickens County: Elementary schools dismiss at 11:45 a.m., middle schools at 12:40 p.m. and high schools at 12:25 p.m.
White County: Closing at 12 p.m.
