ATLANTA — Atlanta Fire Rescue personnel were out at Cascade Avenue on Wednesday morning after a large tree fell, blocking the road.
Crews have been working to clear the road. All lanes were still blocked at noon.
The tree did not hit any cars or homes, but it took out a water line and pulled down power and cable lines, including a traffic signal.
Neighbors told Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach they were thankful it wasn’t worse.
“Everybody in (a home) would have been probably gone. So glad God looked out for us,” one neighbor said.
Portions of the tree were still visible after being cut down for easier transportation and wires from nearby powerlines were seen on the ground, along with a knocked-over power pole.
It was not immediately clear when the road would be fully cleared.
