ATLANTA — Neighbors in the Kirkwood and Oakhurst communities said someone is stealing packages right off their porches.
One homeowner said a package had been delivered to his house Wednesday, and it was taken shortly after.
“I checked my UPS tracking for my package and noticed it had been delivered around 1:50 p.m. that day,” Clarence Solodkin said.
He said his girlfriend left to walk the dog moments before the package was delivered, and when she got back it was gone.
“It’s strange to think of someone coming on to my porch in the middle of the day and my girlfriend was here by herself. It just makes me feel uneasy all and all,” he said.
Solodkin said he logged on to Nextdoor.com and saw that packages were allegedly stolen from two other homes nearby, all within the same hour
Channel 2’s Rikki Klaus stopped by Candler Park Market to learn about its parcel service.
“People asked us would we be willing to let them drop off the package here where it’s safe, and we have,” manager Bobby Childs said.
Customers sign a form, and then the market calls them when packages come in.
“They love it because it’s safe and they don’t have to worry with packages getting stolen,” Childs said.
Solodkin said he’s learned his lesson about shipping.
“You can either get it delivered to your office while you’re there, or specifically ask for the postal service to sign off for the package,” he said.
