Officer hit by vehicle on Downtown Connector

ATLANTA — Police said a Georgia Tech police officer was hit by a vehicle Saturday night in Atlanta.

Officers located a stolen vehicle on I-75/-I-85 Northbound near University Avenue and followed it.

The vehicle exited the interstate and was near 17th Street and the Downtown Connector when the occupants got out of the vehicle and ran away.

The occupants ran onto the interstate and officers ran after them.

Atlanta police said a Georgia Tech officer who was assisting them was hit by a vehicle on the Connector.

The officer was taken to Grady Hospital with a leg injury and was alert, conscious and breathing.

Police recovered the stolen vehicle and are searching for the occupants.
