ATLANTA — The historic birth home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is temporarily closed for safety reasons.
The house on Auburn Ave. in northeast Atlanta was built in 1895.
Officials said a structural issue was found in the home's floor and repairs must be made before public tours can resume.
In a statement, officials said the decision to close the home and suspend tours are in the interest of safety for visitors and the house itself.
