The family of 44-year-old Julious Broughton said they’re heartbroken and still trying to process what happened.

Atlanta police are still working to determine exactly what led up to this shooting.

But the victim’s loved ones tell me they believe it may have started with some type of incident here at this convenience store.

Atlanta police said they arrived at about 11:30 a.m. at 875 Conley Road SE on a shooting call.

There, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical providers pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Homicide Unit investigators are working to determine the situation surrounding the incident.

“I’m just coming home running some errands and drove down the street and just noticed yellow tape. And just wondering, like, what’s, you know, what was going on? Just concerned,” said Dre Smith, a neighbor.

“Right now we are still on scene investigating what led up to it. The community has been very helpful, and the family has arrived and they’ve been very helpful as well,” said Lt. Christopher Butler.

Family members rushed to the scene and quickly identified the deceased victim.

Police are not releasing a motive, but they say an incident at a convenience store may have sparked the deadly gunfire.

Detectives are following leads and working to identify the suspect.
