ATLANTA — A group of local rappers came together over the weekend to feed the homeless.

Rapper Scotty ATL and members of his record label, “The Cool Club,” served food to more than 100 people Saturday in southeast Atlanta.

It was part of the "Taste of Summer" event at Hurt Park near Georgia State University.

Among the event's sponsors were local radio station Streetz94.5, Foot Locker and others.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen and Krispy Kreme provided meals and food for the event, which lasted from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is not the first time the group has come together to plan, host and execute this kind of event. The group partnered with local barbers last year to give out hot meals and haircuts to homeless people at the park.

It distributed warm clothes and blankets during the group's "Burr Blanket Drive" last year in November.

They also partnered with other volunteers to hand out free clothing and toiletries in Atlanta on Christmas Eve, as well as hot meals from a food truck provided by Cravings Express.
