ATLANTA — A Jamaican citizen with a history of violence and illegal immigration was arrested recently in Atlanta.
Marcel Pierre Grant was arrested by the United States Marshals Service on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Despite being deported over many years, Grant has committed numerous, serious crimes.
In 2024 he was released from custody.
Grant remained in the United States and was required to submit to monitoring while on probation.
But Grant failed to follow the guidelines of his monitoring, so U.S. Marshals became responsible for his case.
He was arrested without incident.
In 2001 Grant was charged with carrying and possessing a gun in public. In 2002, he was arrested for armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, bank robbery utilizing a firearm, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and numerous other crimes. In 2003, he was charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated bank robbery and use of a firearm during a crime of violence. In 2006, he was arrested as a deportable alien.
Then in 2022, Grant was arrested for illegal re-entry of a previously removed alien. He was also detained for possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of methamphetamine. In 2023, he was again charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
“Let the message go out to all criminals, both foreign and domestic. If you do harm to the citizens of the United States, you will not be allowed a moment of peace. You will not find shelter. If you illegally come to our communities to wreak havoc, you will be caught, and you will answer for your crimes,” United States Marshal Thomas Brown said.
