ATLANTA — Work crews for the Georgia Department of Transportation will close all northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 285 in southwest Fulton County starting Friday, Aug. 28.
The full closure is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and continue until 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31.
The lane closures are part of the ongoing I-285 Westside Rebuild project, a $206 million concrete slab reconstruction and rehabilitation initiative.

The overall project spans the westside I-285 corridor from State Route 14/South Fulton Parkway in College Park to Collier Road, with total completion scheduled for 2028.
During the upcoming weekend shutdown, all northbound and southbound lanes will be closed between Cascade Road at Exit 7 and State Route 166/Langford Parkway at Exit five.
Work crews will mill and grind the roadway concrete in preparation for replacing and repairing the concrete slabs through the work area.

Detour signage will direct approaching traffic to alternate routes using State Route 166/Langford Parkway, the Interstate 75/Interstate 85 Downtown Connector and Interstate 20.
State transportation officials recommend drivers utilize the 511GA mobile application for real-time travel updates and closure details along the corridor.

Transportation officials have tentatively scheduled additional full weekend closures for Sept. 11 through Sept. 14 and Sept. 25 through Sept. 27.
Those future closures remain subject to change based on weather and on-site roadway conditions.
