ATLANTA — For the third time in 10 months, Gladys Knight’s Signature Chicken and Waffles in midtown failed a health inspection.
The restaurant on Peachtree Street got a score of 65 on Thursday.
A manager at the restaurant, who identified herself only as Veronica, told Channel 2’s Carol Sbarge the inspection was bogus.
The inspection report indicated the latest inspection was prompted by a complaint. One violation was dead cockroaches in the restaurant.

Veronica told Sbarge since she worked there she’s never seen any roaches and has never had any customers complain they saw one.
Other violations included raw chicken stored next to cooked beans, clean utensils stored all over the floor and a heavy buildup on shelves and counters.
Tourists are still attracted to the restaurant with Gladys Knight’s name.
During the summer, investigators arrested Knight’s son, Shanka Hankerson, who owned the restaurant, for stealing sales and withholding taxes.
A visitor from Chicago, Corvon Riley, was surprised to learn the restaurant failed inspections three times, including receiving a 44 just last month.
Riley told Sbarge three failures show they don’t really care.
Sbarge asked Veronica if the food is safe to eat at Gladys Knight's Signature Chicken and Waffles. She said yes.
The restaurant was re-inspected and received an 87.
