Fight over gambling leads to deadly shooting in southwest Atlanta

ATLANTA — A fight over gambling led to a deadly shooting in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police said the shooting happened at an apartment complex at 2959 Forrest Hills Dr. SW. shortly before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers said a 31-year-old got into a fight with a 32-year-old and one shot the other.

Detectives said they were speaking with three witnesses who remained at the scene.

Police said they also confiscated handguns at the apartment, among other things.

Atlanta police Homicide Commander Lt. Ralph Woolfolk said about 41% of the city’s homicides to date this year have happened at apartment complexes.

A person has been detained in connection with the shooting. Police have not said if that person is being charged in this incident.
