ATLANTA — The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Friday night recognized veteran Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Jones.
Jones was inducted into the Silver Circle Honor Society, which recognizes 25 years of significant contribution to the news industry.
Channel 2’s Fred Blankenship emceed a ceremony for Jones and several other inductees at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead.

“It’s been an amazing honor. It has been an incredible journey, and I would do it all again if I could. Thank you all,” Jones said while accepting the award.
He shared stories of his time telling the stories of those in the areas he’s served, including how his mother instilled a love of news in him from a young age.
“Mama, look what you done did!” he told the crowd.
Jones has spent 24 years at WSB-TV after previous stops in Amarillo, Texas, Shreveport, Louisiana and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Southeast Chapter of NATAS highlighted his work mentoring young journalists and preparing future reporters.
