ATLANTA — A bald eagle is recovering after he was rescued in early December by the Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort.
AWARE said on Facebook in early December that Panola park rangers contacted the organization about a grounded bald eagle near Alexander Lake.

When crews arrived, they found the bird badly injured. Officials said they believe the eagle was hit by a car.
Since being taken to AWARE, the team cleaned his wounds and gave him a wrap for his broken wing.

AWARE said the bald eagle received a full examination that revealed abrasions to his face, an eye injury and a broken wing.
After receiving surgery for his broken wing, the bird is now staying at AWARE, where officials say he is doing okay.

It is unclear when the bald eagle will be freed.
