Atlanta United sets MLS postseason attendance record in first playoff game

ATLANTA — After a historic inaugural season, Atlanta United played its first playoff game Thursday night.

The game against Columbus Crew SC took place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Atlanta United is the first MLS expansion team since Seattle in 2009 to qualify for the playoffs in its first year.

Atlanta United lost to Columbus Crew in penalty kicks.

The team set a postseason MLS attendance record with 67,221 tickets for the game.
