3 arrested in shooting of music producer, DJ lured to his death

ATLANTA — Three people have been arrested after a popular music producer and DJ was killed after police say he was set up.

Police say Tarris Caswell, 33, and his friend were lured to an apartment complex on McDaniel St. in August believing they were picking up two men and taking them to a music session they were invited to attend.

Investigators have now arrested 20-year-old Timardre Johnson, 17-year-old Kevon McFasion and a 16-year-old in Caswell’s death.

All three have been charged with murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Ricky Cooper told Channel 2’s Tom Regan as he and Caswell got in the car, two teenage acquaintances in the backseat pulled out guns and demanded their jewelry and wallets.

“Literally, as we put the car in reverse, they were in the front of the car, having guns to my head and it just went on from there,” said Cooper. “[Caswell] started to drive, and he put his hand up and said, ‘Y’all don’t need to do this,’ and just a split second later you heard the shot, and it was crazy from there.”
