2 women jailed after dispute leads to shooting, police say

Police said alcohol possibly contributed to the violence

ATLANTA — Two women were arrested in connection with a shooting that hurt a third woman overnight, Atlanta police said. Police said the shooting stemmed from a disagreement possibly fueled by alcohol.

Police said they responded to 70 Spring Street NW at around 2 a.m. Wednesday, where officers found a woman shot in the foot.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigation indicated the woman was with two other women when an argument escalated and led to the shooting. Police said alcohol may have been involved.

Police took Rachel King, 23, and Carmen Carter, 44, into custody.

APD said King was charged with aggravated assault and taken to Fulton County Jail.

Carter faces an obstruction charge. Police took her to Atlanta Detention Center.

APD says police continue to investigate the shooting.
