ATLANTA — An Atlanta police officer is being commended after she was caught on camera giving a pair of shoes to a barefoot man in the parking lot of a grocery store.
Officer S. Thomas was working her beat in Atlanta’s Zone 5 when she noticed a man walking barefoot in the rainy parking lot. Seeing the man walking barefoot in the rain must have really made an impact on the officer.
Indeed, her soul was touched to see his soles exposed to the elements.
Thomas went and purchased some much-needed footwear for the man. When the officer returned, the man was no longer there. She decided to keep the shoes in her trunk with hopes of running into the man again.
Sometime later, Thomas, while working an extra job, spotted a man outside of the location who happened to be barefoot.
She went into the trunk and presented the shoes to the man.
A bystander saw the interaction and recorded the whole thing.
The video was later posted on social media, and the kind gesture has now been seen by many. Thomas had no idea that her kind gesture was even being watched.
The Atlanta Police Department saw the video and posted about it on one of its Facebook pages. APD stated in the post, “Officers with APD routinely show care and consideration to the citizens of the City of Atlanta and perform random acts of kindness without seeking applause. These interactions never make the news. These deeds are just part of any given day for our men and women in blue.”
