ATLANTA — Attention Atlanta Hawks fans, please buy your tickets from reputable marketplaces. That’s the message that Hawks officials want people to know ahead of some big games here in Atlanta.
The Hawks said it has seen a “significant increase” in the attempted use of counterfeit tickets. The team is urging fans to buy tickets only from verified marketplaces including Hawks.com, Ticketmaster.com and the Ticketmaster app.
There are some big games ahead in the next week.
The team faces Miami on Thursday, Feb. 20, Dallas on Saturday, Feb. 22, Orlando on Wednesday, Feb. 26, Brooklyn on Friday, Feb. 28 and with a game against Portland on Saturday, Feb. 29.
Days before the Super Bowl in Atlanta in 2019, authorities busted a major counterfeit operation. More than 15 people were arrested and charged in a large-scale counterfeiting ring based out of Philadelphia.
Agents said while they didn’t find any actual Super Bowl tickets on one of the suspects, he did have card stock paper and a printer in the vehicle, so they believe he was just setting up shop and getting ready for the weekend.
