Arrest made in Georgia homecoming mass shooting that killed 2, wounded 35

VIENNA, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has made an arrest in a mass shooting early Sunday morning that killed two people and wounded dozens more.

Khadarius “KD” Ray, 17, has been charged with possession of a firearm under the age of 18 and participating in criminal street gang activity.

Investigators say there was a homecoming block party happening in Vienna, which is about two hours south of Atlanta when gunfire started ringing out.

Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy identified the victims who died as Jaquevion Jackson, 21, and McCaleb Jackson, 23.

Channel 2’s Ashlyn Webb was in Vienna on Monday where she learned just seven medical workers were on a duty in the emergency room at a small rural hospital when dozens of victims began pouring in.

“We did not have an idea how many we would end the morning by receiving and treating,” said April Dukes, Chief Nursing Officer. 

The GBI says they are continuing to investigate the shooting and expect to make additional arrests.
