ATLANTA — The Georgia State Police Department arrested Daniel Duplessy, 38, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on campus Tuesday.
Police received the armed robbery call at 1:43 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to police, a Georgia State student was robbed of his laptop and cellphone at gunpoint by Duplessy at 1:33 p.m.
The deputy chief told Channel 2's Tom Regan this is the first instance he's aware of a student getting robbed inside the campus library.
"Pulled a gun on him and told him to put his property in the student's book bag," Deputy Chief Carlton Mullis said.
Other students told Regan it's not unusual to hear about street crime, but not an armed robbery in a school building.
"I don't know, it might because finals are over and everybody is fading out of the university," one student said.
"That's terrible and I really hope they bring that person to justice," student Nicole Slifcak said.
Georgia State police say their elaborate high-tech security camera system has helped to solve many campus crimes.
"We believe he may be involved in at least three or four incidents that we've had, all robberies or thefts?" Regan asked."Right." Mullis said.
The student was not hurt.
