ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — Salem High School will have extra counselors at the school on Monday days to offer support to students after a bus crash Friday night.
The crash happened near Interstate 20 and Highway 138 and sent 22 students and three staff members to hospitals. Rockdale County Schools said on Sunday that all of them have been released from the hospital.
“Additional counselors will be on campus at Salem High School to support students and staff for as long as needed. We are grateful to the first responders, medical professionals, and school and district staff members who cared for our students and adults,” the district said.

The crash happened around 10:38 p.m. Friday. The Salem High School football team and their three buses were on the way home from a game against Greater Atlanta Christian.
Georgia State Patrol, who is handling the investigation, says the driver lost control of the bus, but it’s unclear why.
The bus went across all lanes of Ga. 138 and hit a Black Kia Soul. Both drivers were taken to the hospital.
A Georgia State Patrol spokesperson said Sunday that there are “no updates at this time” about the cause of the crash, which remains under investigation.
