SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Sandy Springs police asked the public to avoid an apartment complex for a SWAT situation. Officers now have a suspect in custody.
Police responded to a domestic dispute around 8 a.m. at the Glen Lake apartment complex. Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach spotted K-9 units and an ambulance at the scene.

Officers initially received a call from a woman who said her child’s father assaulted her. When police arrived, the man, identified as 33-year-old Dennis Carter, barricaded himself inside the apartment.
Officers thought they heard gunshots as they got closer to the apartment and retreated. They also evacuated nearby apartments.
Police eventually got Carter to surrendered peacefully. He will be charged with false imprisonment, simple battery. Police said more charges are possible.
