Athens-Clarke police are investigating a deadly crash after a driver hit a historic building on Wednesday.
Police say E. Broad Street is closed between College Ave. and N. Thomas Street for the investigation.
A photo shared by Athens-Clarke County Fire shows the part of the building gone and canopy damaged. The building is where Magnolias Bar is located.
The Athens-Clarke County Coroner’s Office confirmed to Channel 2 that it has been called out to the scene for at least one fatality. Police have not said if it was the driver who died.
