85 campers, staff members from YMCA overnight camp test positive for COVID-19

RABUN COUNTY, Ga. — About 85 campers and staff who attended a YMCA camp in north Georgia have now tested positive for coronavirus, according to our partners at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and AJC.com.

Camp High Harbour on Lake Burton in Rabun County shut down shortly after opening for the summer in June because a counselor tested positive for the virus.

The YMCA told state health officials they followed summer camp requirements in Gov. Brian Kemp’s executive order concerning the pandemic, the Georgia Department of Public Health said. 

After the children were sent home, more campers and staff began to test positive for the virus.
