ATLANTA — Atlanta Humane Society says it is caring for eight puppies that were orphaned after their mother was shot and killed.
“Their entire world was turned upside down, and all they knew was that they were cold, hungry, and confused,” the shelter said.

The litter is under the care of the Howell Mill Road location in northwest Atlanta.
Atlanta Humane Society says the puppies will need weeks of around-the-clock bottle feeding from specially trained foster caregivers.

Right now, the puppies are not up for adoption because of their ages. The humane society’s primary focus is on getting them healthy.
“They’re only a couple weeks old. They’ll get care and love and they’ll be up for adoption when they’re eight weeks old,” Christina Hill.
The puppies are shepherd mixes and will get big as they get healthier.
If you are interested in helping these puppies and other animals in the society’s care, you can donate on the Atlanta Humane Society’s website or through their wish list program.
