ATLANTA — Sometimes a feel-good story is all it takes to make your day that much better.
Here are 5 stories that made us grab a tissue and cry tears of joy in 2019.
Northside nurses bring Backstreet Boys concert to patient
Due to “some unfortunate situations,” Coley was at Northside Cancer Center getting treatment for leukemia she was diagnosed with two weeks prior to the concert.
Amanda Coley had been waiting to go to the Backstreet Boys concert ever since she got tickets last Christmas. But she wasn’t at the concert in August when the band came to Atlanta.
But that didn’t stop the music.
Coley’s sister, Maggie Kingston, posted video of Northside’s nurses singing along to the boy band’s hit.
Coley’s cousin told Channel 2 Action News that the mother of 4 is strong and a fighter. She wanted to share the video to show just how much they appreciate the nurses at Northside Cancer Center.
12-year-old colorblind boy sees color for first time
This story tugged on our heartstrings. Seventh-grader Jonathan Jones from Minnesota is described as “extremely” colorblind -- that is -- until he tried on a pair of special glasses from his science teacher.
He could finally see color for the first time in his life.
Tears of joy immediately fell down Jones’ face, and the emotional moment was caught on camera and quickly went viral.
Final Wish: Man in hospice asks to be baptized
A South Carolina man dying of cancer had a final wish. He wanted to be baptized.
Jenis Grindstaff said he had always had a connection with Jesus but never was baptized. But the Navy veteran and air traffic controller was granted his request with some help with the staff of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
They used a 60-gallon tub at the hospice home to help Grindstaff receive his blessing, hospice officials said.
Woman stops to help pregnant homeless teen -- but her generosity didn’t end there.
There’s still some good left in the world. A metro Atlanta woman came to the aid of a teen who was in need after she spotted the 19-year-old crying on the side of the road.
Anna Szabo stopped to talk with Jami Curtis, a pregnant and homeless teen who she noticed was all alone.
“I saw a woman crying. She was very, very young. She looked at me and said ‘I’m completely hopeless. I have nowhere to go,” Szabo said.
The woman quickly went into action, asking for help through social media to get Curtis back on her feet -- and let’s just say an outpouring of support flooded in.
Curtis now has a roof over her head and a safe place to bring her newborn into the world.
Boy invites his entire kindergarten class to adoption hearing
There’s no place like home!
OK, remember that box of tissues we mentioned earlier in the article? Time to grab it again.
Young Michael, a kindergartner from Michigan, was so excited about being adopted that he invited his entire 36-student class to attend his adoption hearing.
Michael’s classmates held paper hearts and offered the boy messages of support on his special day.
As an ABC News-affiliate was speaking to Michael’s adopted father, Michael chimed in and said, “I love my daddy so much!” and we just can’t stop crying.
