“It’s my understanding the call was placed by the wife, the female victim. She called, and was complaining about the husband who was in the house smoking and she said he was killing her with the smoke,” Douglas Police Chief Brannen Pruette said during a news conference on Saturday.
In a statement released Thursday morning, the department says it “extends its condolences to the victims’ loved ones and recognizes the impact this loss has had on our community.”
Douglas is located in Coffee County, which is about three and half hours south of Atlanta.
