ATLANTA — Police charged a father with reckless conduct after a firefighter found his 3-year-old son wandering in the middle of a busy street.

The fire department says they found the boy at about 6 p.m. Saturday on Benjamin E. Mays Drive in southwest Atlanta.

According to the fire department, Anthony Woods left the child with his mother while she was sleeping in their apartment.

The boy got out through the back door when Woods left to buy lottery tickets.

The fire department said Woods arrived about five minutes after they found the child in the street.

Police arrested Woods  and took him to the Fulton County Jail.

Monday, Woods was released on a $2,000 bond.
