The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office reports that the shooting happened at Laney High School at 1339 Laney Walker Blvd. in the tailgate area.
In an update, the sheriff’s office said all three people were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the suspect, Aiyana Lane, and another woman.
The fight was broken up by others. Then, police say, Lane pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot at the first victim.
Lane was taken into custody, and a gun was recovered at the scene.
She’s facing the following charges:
- Three counts of aggravated assault;
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime;
- Cruelty to children in the third degree; and
- Carrying weapons within school safety zones, at School Functions, or on a bus or other transportation furnished by a school.
The Richmond County School District confirmed to WJBF that no students were involved in the shooting. All those involved in the dispute were adults.
However, a school district officer was hurt during a separate altercation “and is reportedly doing well.”
The sheriff’s office said deputies continue to investigate the shooting.
