Man shot, killed while visiting mother in Atlanta

ATLANTA — The search is on for the killer who shot a man visiting his mother in northwest Atlanta.

A SWAT team is searching the King Lake Apartments on West Lake Avenue where they say the gunman may be.

The shooting happened Monday night. Police say they got a call about an argument in the parking lot and that someone had a weapon. When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside one of the apartments. Witnesses said he ran and collapsed moments after the shooting.

Channel 2 Action News spoke to the victim's mother who identified her son as 25-year-old Warren Roseberry. She said he was visiting when the shooting happened.

"He was trying to tell everybody to get along, because we got to live out here. They didn't have to kill my son," said Brenda Roseberry.

A source close to the investigation told Channel 2's Darryn Moore the SWAT team shot tear gas inside an apartment with several people inside.

They are still looking for the suspect and searching the apartment for a weapon.
