$2 ticket, $1 million win: Georgia Powerball player strikes it big

A Georgia Lottery player is $1 million richer after matching all five white-ball numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

The winning ticket from the Aug. 29 drawing was purchased at Marathon Mart on N. Westover Boulevard in Albany.

Another Georgia player won $50,000 after matching four of the five white-ball numbers plus the Powerball. That ticket was purchased at Mike Food Mart on Zebulon Road in Macon.

The next Powerball drawing is Monday, Aug. 31, with an estimated jackpot of $131 million.

Several other Georgia Lottery players also scored big wins over the weekend:

  • A player won $91,407 playing Triple Win Quick Win at Welcome Foods in Powder Springs on Aug. 29.
  • An Acworth resident won $52,524 playing Hit $500 Quick Win through the Georgia Lottery mobile app on Aug. 30.
  • A Valdosta resident won $10,000 playing the Viking Gold Diggi Game on the mobile app.
  • A Pooler resident won $10,000 playing the Liberty Luck Diggi Game on the mobile app.
  • A ticket purchased at Panhandle Food Mart in Hampton won the $10,000 top prize in Sunday’s midday Georgia FIVE drawing.
  • Two players won $7,500 in Millionaire for Life drawings. Their tickets were purchased in Savannah and Fairburn.

According to the Georgia Lottery, proceeds from its games benefit education in Georgia.
