2 shot near Grady High School

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a double shooting near the intersection of Northeast Monroe Drive and Northeast Eighth Street.

The first victim, Keiunte Wallace, had a gunshot wound to his back.

He was transported to Grady hospital, but is in critical condition.

The victim said that he responded that there wasn’t a problem and the other group insisted that there was a problem.

According to police, he said that he was leaving the football game at Grady Stadium when four to five black males approached him and other members of his group and asked if they had a problem with them.

According to the victim, he thought there was going to be a fist fight, but someone from the other group pulled a gun and started shooting at him.

He said that he ran and didn't realize he had been shot until he entered a nearby restaurant.

A second victim, Yu Xuejing, was shot as she drove through the intersection of Monroe and Eighth. Stray bullets entered her Toyota Corolla and struck her twice, once in the ankle and once to the head.

She was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center in stable condition.

Investigators said the shooting did not take place at Grady High School or its football stadium.

Approximately 21 .40 caliber shell casings were recovered from the scene and three bullet fragments.Wallace is a registered Atlanta Public School student from Crim Open-Campus High School.
