2 shot at Douglasville gas station during robbery attempt

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are searching for a group of robbers who ambushed a Douglasville gas station, shooting two people inside early Tuesday morning.
 
According to Douglasville Police Chief Chris Womack, two employees were shot by men who were trying to rob the RaceTrac gas station at 5897 Fairburn Road.
 
No customers were inside the store at the time of the shooting. Police said there were two people pumping gas outside.
 
Police believe the gunmen entered the store from the rear of the building.
 
The two victims, a man and woman, were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where they were listed in stable condition. One was shot in the abdomen and the other was shot in the leg.
 
Authorities said they are searching for multiple people in the shooting. No one has been taken into custody.

Investigators are looking at surveillance cameras in the area to identify the gunmen.
 
The Douglasville Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the men involved in the shooting. RaceTrac announced it has matched the $5,000 to bring the total for the reward up to $10,000.
