2 people charged with animal cruelty after disturbing dog video surfaces

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — Two people are behind bars and charged with animal abuse after a disturbing video surfaced of a dog being abused in Floyd County.

The Floyd County sheriff’s office said that Jason Kelley and Tonya Trapp are both being charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

Video of the animal abuse was circulated widely on social media. The video shows a man throwing a dog into a dumpster by the leash outside a day care center.

On Wednesday, deputies from the Floyd County sheriff’s office and PAWS officers were able to track down the two suspects.

On the sheriff’s office Facebook page, more than 100 people commented and praised officers for making arrests in the case.

Both Kelley and Trapp are being held without bond.
