ATLANTA, Ga. — Two cyclists are recovering in the hospital after police said they were hit by a driver that left the scene in southwest Atlanta.
Aisha Reed and Charles Love were riding together on Lee Street near Fort McPherson on Aug. 12. The two regularly ride together and were training for a triathlon.
Reed said they were riding with their lights on when the crash happened.
“We thought we were going to do a casual couple miles,” Reed said.

Reed said she initially did not realize she had been hit.
“I woke up to a lady screaming saying there was a lot of blood coming from me,” Reed said. “I didn’t know I was hit at that time. Lots of confusion.”
She soon realized she had suffered serious injuries.
“Baby, you’ve been hit by a car,” Reed recalled being told. “I felt ... I don’t know how I knew that my neck was broke because I couldn’t move my neck.”
Love was riding just ahead of Reed and saw the car approaching before the impact. He also saw his mangled bicycle after the crash.

No arrests have been made.
Both cyclists remain hospitalized as they recover. They said they are grateful for the outpouring of support, prayers and love they have received.
For Reed, being separated from her children has been especially difficult.
“I have not seen my children and will not see them until I am discharged,” Reed said. “It’s been very hard on them, very hard on me.”
The cyclists are now hoping investigators can find the driver who left them behind.
