ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — Rockdale County Public Schools is celebrating 180 students named 2026 Advanced Placement Scholars after their performance on the 2025-2026 AP exams.

The district said the number is up from 168 students recognized the previous year. Students from all of the district’s high schools were represented among the honorees.
RCPS students also earned 743 AP exam scores of 3 or higher, which the district said is the highest total in its history. Scores of 3 or higher can earn students college credit, depending on the college or university.
Five students earned the AP Capstone Diploma, a distinction based on completing AP Seminar and AP Research along with four additional AP exams.
Another 40 students were named AP Scholars with Distinction, while 29 were named AP Scholars with Honor. The remaining 106 students were recognized as AP Scholars.
“We are incredibly proud of our students who have earned these prestigious AP Scholar recognitions,” RCPS Superintendent Dr. Stephanie S. Johnson said. “These students have challenged themselves with rigorous coursework and demonstrated the skills needed for success.”

The district said 74 of the AP Scholars attended Rockdale County High School, including students at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology. Twenty-nine attended Heritage High School and three attended Salem High School.
Among AP Scholars with Honor, 22 attended Rockdale County High School/Rockdale Magnet, five attended Heritage High School and two attended Salem High School.
Of the AP Scholars with Distinction, 35 attended Rockdale County High School/Rockdale Magnet, three attended Heritage High School and two attended Salem High School.
The five students who earned the AP Capstone Diploma were Olivia P. Howard-Bashir, Olivia C. Land, Kendall N. Parker, Zachary E. Thomas and Sophia N. Zakirova.
