GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — An overnight boat collision at Lake Lanier has left one person dead.
Police said three others, including an injured woman in serious condition, were taken to the hospital after the crash that happened at about 1 a.m. Sunday in Buford.
Police are still trying to determine how the crash occurred.
Channel 2's Sophia Choi found investigators pulling a house boat from the lake at about 6 a.m. after searching all night for survivors.
Rescue crews found a man involved in the crash floating in the water overnight.
In fact, it was boating and the helicopter efforts that were able to locate the second victim who was still in the water.
Investigators said two of the survivors, a married couple in their 30s, abandoned a 21-foot ski boat, and reported the crash, just before 1 a.m.
They were on their way across the lake toward the Hambersham Marina area when they hit an unknown object, authorities said.

"They were able to exit their boat as it was taking on water," Gwinnett County Fire and Rescue Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. "They were able to swim to shore, climb the bank (and) flag down a motorist on the roadway who then called 911 for them."
Crews initially thought the other boat had sunk in the dark waters. But after searching through the night, they finally located the house boat.
