Limo Driver Killed Outside Sex Shop

ATLANTA,None — A man was shot to death outside an adult entertainment store. His family is pleading for someone to come forward with any information on the killing.

Limousine driver Jeff Powers went to pick up a passenger at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta airport last Thursday night. His daughter, Eboni, said she told him repeatedly to drive safely. She said she was thinking about the road conditions due to recent ice storms, not armed robbers.

When Powers' passenger's flight was delayed coming into the airport, he stopped at Starship Enterprises adult entertainment store on Old National Highway.

"And he never made it home," Eboni told Channel 2's Jeff Dore.

Surveillance video showed Powers being ambushed by armed robbers. He was then shot to death.

His wife, Deidre, met Powers when she was in high school and they married three years later. Together, they raised two children, now in their early 20s.

His wife described Powers as her closest companion.

"My best friend. My everything. We talked every day," she said.

Four and a half years ago, the family took in Powers' mother after a fire killed Powers' father. They were bracing for spending Christmas without Powers' father, and now Powers was killed just eight days before Christmas.

"Even the times when I'm upset, I'd talk to Jeff and he always just made it right. He's not here to make it right anymore," Deidre said.

Powers' mother, Betty Powers, turned to a video camera and sent a message to her son's killers in her Wednesday interview with Dore.

"I'm not angry with you, but you left a family in desolation. We don't know what's going to happen to us now," she said.
