MOULTRIE, Ga. — Hutson Mason has a new gig.
The former University of Georgia quarterback has taken a job as a high school quarterbacks coach. He'll coach under Rush Propst at Colquitt County. The Packers are the defending state champs in AAAAAA.
Mason played against Colquitt County in high school. Mason's Lassiter team met the Packers in the 2009 state playoffs.
Propst told the Moultrie Observer that Mason will be the offensive coordinator on the ninth-grade football team and he'll work with the varsity quarterbacks on game nights.
"We are glad to get him," Propst said. "He's been a target of mine." Mason hasn't abandoned his goal of playing in the NFL either. He was signed as a free agent by the Washington Redskins after going undrafted, but was cut. Propst said that if Mason gets a call from a NFL team, he'd be free to pursue it.
