FAIRBURN, Ga. — A Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office investigator said she has a tentative ID for human remains discarded near the Fairburn City Cemetery.
Investigator Betty Honey said she's 98 percent sure the remains belong to John Tolbert, who was buried in 1979.
She said his daughter, Mary Williams, was apparently buried in the same grave in April.
"For the burial remains to just be tossed…I wouldn't have done that to someone's beloved animal," said Tolbert's granddaughter Yolandes W. Conway.
Family lawyer Mike Prieto said he's investigating how it happened.
Gus Thornhill Jr. said his funeral home contracted with another firm to dig the grave, but if there is something wrong he will make it right.
