ATLANTA,None — Auto body repair shops in northern suburbs of metro Atlanta are busy repairing hundreds of cars, trucks and SUVs damaged by the intense storms that swept across Georgia on Friday night.
"The hail was ridiculous. It took out a lot of cars," said repair shop manager Dano Booth.
Booth, who works at Abra Auto Body repair in Sandy Springs, showed Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Regan one of dozens of hail damaged cars the shop will fix.
Small circles on the hood and side panels of the one vehicle Booth showed marked more than 150 dents caused by pea-sized hail.
"This car got hammered. You're looking at about $4,000 in repairs," said Booth.
Regan also spoke with Lindsay Grueter.
Her brand new SUV got pummeled with hail in her apartment complex while she was out of down on business Friday. She said she was heartbroken to see the damage but figured it could be worse.
"I'm glad I wasn't hurt, and no one I know was hurt," said Grueter.
Another business that is staying busy is Dents and Dings in Alpharetta.
The shop's owner, David Korsen, told Regan the phone has been ringing nonstop. He showed how he removes dents to avoid replacing body panels.
"I don't paint cars. I take each dent out one at a time. That avoids devaluation of the car and it's faster," said Korsen.
Repair experts said you should get competitive bids for hail damage repairs and ask your insurance company if they will consider lowering your deductible for repairs.
