Growing jackpots: $245 million Powerball, $105 million Mega Millions

ATLANTA — Mega Millions and Powerball are rolling ahead with strong jackpots for Tuesday and Wednesday’s drawings. Mega Millions has swelled to $105 million for Tuesday’s drawing, and Powerball continues to climb with its jackpot at an estimated $245 million for Wednesday’s drawing.

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown since July 30 and has rolled 11 times.

Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: approximately $4 million a year for 26 years with the annuity option, or a single payment worth approximately $71 million with the cash option.

Wednesday’s estimated Powerball jackpot for a single annuity winner is $245 million.

It only takes $1 to play Mega Millions for a chance to win big. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.

The jackpot has grown since Aug. 10 and has rolled nine times.

Powerball offers two jackpot payment options: the $245 million annuity prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $136 million.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Players can add the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per play to increase non-jackpot prize winnings.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions and Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
