ATLANTA — Christopher Comeau of Griffin is relishing a $1 million Georgia Lottery prize. Comeau, 37, played the instant game $1,000,000 Benjamins, netting a $1 million top prize win.
Georgia Lottery representatives presented Comeau with an oversized check Thursday at Stop N Run, 401 Airport Road in Griffin, where he purchased the ticket.
The lucky sales consultant said he purchased the ticket on his way home from work.
“I was sitting there,” he said. “My wife said, ‘You look like you’re about to fall over!’ I couldn’t sleep.”
Calling all of his family members, the Comeau family is overjoyed.
The father of three with his wife, Susan, anticipates “spoiling” himself and his family.
“I’m going to pay some bills down, and I’ll probably buy a new car and we’ll vacation,” Comeau shared.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
