Over 150 pounds of marijuana, machine guns seized in Georgia drug bust

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. — A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges after authorities say they seized more than 150 pounds of marijuana during a multi-agency drug investigation.

On Aug. 31, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a home on Del A Rae Circle in Guyton.

The operation involved the sheriff’s office Drug Suppression Unit, the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and other federal agents.

During the search, authorities said they found more than 150 pounds of marijuana, over $18,000 in cash and more than a dozen guns. Authorities said some of the weapons included machine guns and suppressors.

Deputies also seized a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray from the property.

The sheriff’s office said Mikell Berry, 23, was arrested and faces several charges, including trafficking, obstruction, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and more arrests are possible.
