BANKS COUNTY, Ga. — Driving under the influence in Banks County can cost you more than just court fees, on top of possible jail time.
On Monday, the Banks County Probate Court mandated individuals convicted of DUI or reckless driving must provide an approved, brand-new car seat in its original box as part of their legal proceedings.

There’s a need for car seats, so the court is placing the responsibility on those who choose to drive irresponsibly or under the influence, officials said.
“We found a way to provide the need without burdening our taxpayers,” said Cameron Boswell, Probate Judge of Banks County.
The Banks County Sheriff’s Office will help by providing technical feedback on the car seats and handling the distribution of them.
Offenders convicted of reckless driving or DUI will be required to provide one of the approved car seat options before they can resolve their sentence.
