Savon Tevin Holman, 34, died Oct. 18 after being shot multiple times in the 800 block of West 53rd Street, near Mills B. Lane Boulevard, according to ABC-affiliate WJCL.

Savannah police responded to the scene around 3:20 p.m. Sunday. First responders tried to save Holman, but he died from his injuries, WJCL said.

Holman was the president of 912 United, a youth sports organization where he worked to make a difference in the lives of young athletes, according to a GoFundMe organized by Na’eemah Massey on behalf of his family.

“Savon was more than a father, son, brother and friend,” Massey wrote in the fundraiser. “He was a beloved coach and the president of the 912 United youth sports organization, where he made a lasting impact on the lives of young athletes.”

His family said his influence extended beyond the sports organizations he led, touching the lives of young people and others throughout the community. He leaves behind three children: Braylon, Kaycen and Kamryn.
