“Wearing our uniform or carrying our badge does not place anyone above the law,” Chaney said. “I expect more from the men and women who have been entrusted to serve and protect this community. When one of our own is involved in an incident that warrants law enforcement action, we will respond with the same professionalism, impartiality, and accountability that we expect in every investigation.”

He added that accountability is essential to maintaining public trust and that the agency will continue to handle the matter professionally and impartially.

The investigation remains ongoing.
